David Hogg Sparks Civil War Inside Democratic Party
His six-figure donation to the DCCC comes with a warning out with the old Democrats, or face the consequences.

Democratic Party infighting just got a lot messier and 25-year-old gun control activist David Hogg is at the center of the storm.
Hogg, now a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, has set off alarm bells inside the party after announcing his plan to spend $20 million to primary sitting Democrats he deems “ineffective.” This week, he followed that up with a $100,000 donation to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), insisting the money wasn’t a peace offering but proof of his resolve to replace dead weight within the party.
“This is not me playing nice,” Hogg wrote on X, clarifying that his end goal is to make Hakeem Jeffries the next Speaker of the House even if that means igniting a civil war to do it.
Hogg’s move signals a growing divide on the Left: a youth-led, activist-driven wing trying to overthrow the old guard of establishment Democrats many of whom have held office for decades and done little more than protect their own careers.
Hogg’s group, “Leaders We Deserve,” plans to funnel $20 million into primary races against Democrats who hold “safe seats” but, in his words, are “asleep at the wheel.”
The average age of House Democrats is 59, while the Senate Democrat average is even higher at 65 a clear target for the kind of political upheaval Hogg is advocating.
His critics, including Democrat strategist James Carville, blasted the plan as “insane,” questioning why someone in Hogg’s position isn’t focusing on defeating Republicans instead.
“Does he really think the problem that we‘re facing in the United States today is because we got 65-year-old Democrats in office?” Carville asked. “Why don’t you take on a Republican? That’s your job.”
That’s a question many on both sides are asking. For Republicans, though, this all comes across as sweet political theater. With Democrats fighting themselves and funneling cash into inner-party warfare, it only strengthens GOP prospects in 2024 particularly in reclaiming the House and holding the line in the Senate.
Even as Hogg claims he's not targeting “frontline” Democrats those in competitive districts his plan injects chaos into a party already fractured by radical agendas, generational clashes, and failing leadership.
While the Left eats its own, Republicans are watching and preparing to sweep into power behind a resurgent Donald Trump, who is already dominating the polls and has unified much of the conservative base.
The Democratic Party’s internal war isn’t just entertaining it’s telling. When your own youth activists are calling for your replacement and publicly questioning your fitness, you’re no longer just out of touch. You’re obsolete.
