Cuomo Vows to Take Trump Fight to Washington if Elected NYC Mayor

Disgraced ex-governor eyes NYC mayor’s office as a platform to fight the GOP and push a Democrat comeback in Washington.

Just when New York thought it had rid itself of Andrew Cuomo, the disgraced former governor is plotting his political resurrection not to fix the city’s crumbling infrastructure or spiraling crime, but to wage war against Donald Trump from the mayor’s office.

In a stunningly arrogant admission, Cuomo revealed that his goal as mayor isn’t to serve New Yorkers it’s to spend “eight years in Washington” fighting Trump and rallying support for Democrat policies.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t about leadership, it’s about vendettas.

Cuomo, who resigned in shame over multiple sexual harassment allegations, told POLITICO he would use New York City’s mayoralty as a launching pad to organize national opposition to Trump. He claimed he’d mobilize red states to fight Republican Medicaid reforms despite Trump already making clear that he won’t touch Medicaid benefits beyond cutting waste and fraud.

Here’s what Cuomo said he would do:

  • Spend his mayoral term attending conferences in D.C. instead of fixing New York.

  • Campaign against GOP congressional seats in red states.

  • Fight Medicaid reform, even as Trump promised to protect benefits and root out corruption.

And that’s coming from a man still under federal investigation for covering up COVID nursing home deaths and allegedly lying to Congress.

Cuomo’s 2020 directive forcing nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients led to thousands of unnecessary deaths, according to reports from the New York Attorney General’s Office and ProPublica. The House Oversight Committee recently stated there is “overwhelming evidence” Cuomo knew the state was undercounting the dead by nearly 46% and now he claims he simply “doesn’t recall” reviewing the report.

Let that sink in: Cuomo wants to wage a political war from the mayor’s office while dodging accountability for the blood on his hands.

Despite this, Cuomo is leading the polls in a heated NYC mayoral race. A new PIX11/Emerson College poll shows him at 54.4%, but he’s losing ground fast to far-left Democrat Zohran Mamdani a socialist whose support has jumped to 45.6%, up from just 10% in March. Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, now running as an independent, remains sidelined in a chaotic three-way battle.

The real tragedy? While violent crime surges, businesses flee, and New Yorkers battle skyrocketing costs of living, Cuomo’s grand vision for the city is a personal grudge match with Trump not public service.

The last thing New York City needs is a career politician chasing Washington headlines while ignoring the streets he was elected to serve.
