Ted Cruz Blasts Biden’s “Garbage” Remark, Says It Reveals Democrats’ Contempt for Americans

Cruz calls Biden’s comments an echo of Clinton’s “deplorables” insult, showing Democrats’ disdain for working-class concerns.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) did not mince words this week in his response to President Biden’s recent comment labeling Trump supporters as “garbage.” During an episode of his podcast, Verdict, Cruz argued that Biden’s remark is emblematic of how top Democratic leaders view conservative Americans, aligning it with the infamous “deplorables” label Hillary Clinton used in 2016 to describe Trump supporters.

“This is deplorables all over again,” Cruz said, adding that Biden’s rhetoric only confirms what he believes many Democrats truly think of middle America. “You remember Barack Obama saying Americans are bitter and clinging to their God and their guns. It’s what they think. It’s what Obama thinks, it’s what Hillary thinks, it’s what Joe Biden thinks. It’s definitely what Kamala thinks.”

The controversy began when Biden, during a campaign call, responded to comments from a comedian who allegedly mocked Puerto Rico, referring to the territory as “garbage.” Biden shot back that the “only garbage” he saw “floating out there” were Trump’s supporters. Facing a backlash, the White House scrambled to clarify Biden’s remarks, claiming he was only referencing the comedian’s comments and not his actual political opponents. Biden later attempted to downplay the remark on social media, but Cruz remains unconvinced.

Cruz argues this isn’t just a Biden gaffe but part of a pattern among Democrats who don’t resonate with the concerns of average Americans. “If you have a problem with rising prices or with higher crime rates in your neighborhood, Democrats think you’re the problem,” he said. Cruz believes Democrats have resorted to demonizing millions of Americans instead of offering solutions, highlighting that their final strategy heading into the election is to portray Trump as a modern-day “Hitler.” However, Cruz said even he didn’t expect Biden would go as far as labeling American citizens as “garbage.”

“This is a whole different level,” Cruz continued. “It’s one thing to try to demonize Trump. It’s another thing and a much stupider thing to demonize half the voters in America. Now, they believe it; they believe we’re garbage. They believe we’re deplorables. But it’s a bad campaign strategy to say, ‘Hey, you piece of garbage, vote for me.’”

With Biden and Trump locked in tight races across critical swing states, many worry Biden’s outbursts could alienate moderate voters who don’t appreciate being disparaged. Cruz’s remarks speak to a broader discontent among conservatives who feel that the current administration has not only ignored middle America’s concerns but actively holds them in contempt.

Biden’s rhetoric risks further dividing a country already on edge, and the stakes of this election have only grown higher. Cruz’s response has amplified the message that Biden’s comments aren’t just about words they’re a symptom of the Democrats’ broader attitude toward the people they claim to represent.
