Tom Cotton Slams Kristen Welker Over Defense of Biden-Harris’ Hurricane Response

NBC’s Kristen Welker struggles to defend the administration’s failures amid mounting criticisms.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) took NBC News host Kristen Welker to task on Sunday during a fiery exchange on Meet The Press, where she attempted to downplay the Biden-Harris administration’s catastrophic response to Hurricane Helene. Cotton, a vocal critic of the administration, was quick to highlight the glaring missteps in managing the crisis, shredding Welker’s attempts to defend their actions.

Welker, like many in the left-wing media, tried to paint Trump’s claims about FEMA mismanagement and funds being redirected as “baseless.” She accused the former president of spreading misinformation, stating, “Both those claims have been debunked. They’re false.”

But Cotton was having none of it. He immediately pushed back, stating, “I don’t think he’s confusing anyone. I think the administration did get caught flat-footed here, and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been proven to be over-matched by events again.”

Cotton wasn’t pulling punches. He called out the administration for its sluggish response in deploying military support for rescue operations, a delay that tragically cost lives.

Here are the facts:

  • More than a week after Hurricane Helene struck, rescue operations are still ongoing due to the administration’s slow response.

  • Homeland Security officials have admitted that there’s a shortage of FEMA funds, a direct result of misallocated resources.

  • Billions of dollars have been funneled into supporting illegal immigrants housing them in hotels and providing them with full accommodations, while Americans in disaster-stricken areas struggle for basic aid.

Cotton highlighted the absurdity of the administration’s priorities, noting, “They have been spending billions of dollars for the last four years to move migrants from our border, to put them up in hotels, and give them room service and maids. That’s simply a fact.”

When Welker attempted to claim that the funds used for migrants were not part of disaster relief, Cotton swiftly dismantled her argument. “It is true that FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security have been spending billions of dollars on migrants,” he said, exposing the government’s ability to shift money around when it suits their political agenda.

“We just passed a short-term spending bill,” Cotton continued. “It’s very common for the administration to come and ask for permission to move money between funds, especially to prepare for emergencies.”

Perhaps Cotton’s most damning point came when he exposed the administration’s selective spending habits: “This administration seems to have no problem finding money when they want to spend it on their priorities. When they need hundreds of billions of dollars to pay off student loans for graduate students in gender studies programs, they somehow find it. But when it’s about getting helicopters to deliver food, water, and life-saving medicine, they can’t seem to find the money.”

This exchange highlights the disturbing trend of this administration prioritizing political pet projects over the safety and well-being of American citizens. While Biden and Harris scramble to cover up their failures, Americans across the nation are waking up to the disastrous consequences of their leadership.
