Comer Demands Interview With Biden’s Doctor Amid Health Concerns

House Oversight Chairman questions White House physician over president’s fitness and family ties.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has requested an interview with White House physician Kevin O’Connor, expressing concerns about President Joe Biden’s health following a shaky debate performance against former President Donald Trump. The 81-year-old president’s re-election campaign has been under scrutiny, with some Democrats urging him to step down.

Key points to consider:

  • Comer’s letter to O’Connor highlights inconsistencies in statements from Biden and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre regarding Biden's medical evaluations since his debate performance.

  • The committee questions O’Connor’s independence due to his past connections with the Biden family, including providing counsel to James Biden during his work for hospital firm Americore.

  • Comer is also leading an impeachment investigation into the Biden family over potential influence-peddling schemes.

Comer’s letter, obtained by The Daily Wire, notes that calls for Biden to undergo a cognitive test have intensified since his debate performance. The Washington Post reported that O’Connor has insisted Biden does not need such testing.

The letter points out contradictions between Biden’s and Jean-Pierre’s statements about his medical check-ups. While Biden claimed to have been examined post-debate, Jean-Pierre said he has not been evaluated since his annual exam in February.

Comer also raised concerns about O’Connor’s connections to the Biden family, referencing evidence that O’Connor advised James Biden while serving as Joe Biden’s personal doctor. This relationship has sparked questions about O’Connor’s ability to provide unbiased medical evaluations.

Comer’s committee is investigating the Biden family's financial activities, noting that James Biden received substantial sums from Americore, including a $200,000 check to his brother for a "loan repayment." The committee seeks to understand O’Connor’s involvement in these financial matters.

In his letter, Comer requested O’Connor “produce all documents and communications in your possession regarding Americore and James Biden.” He also asked O’Connor to schedule an interview with committee counsel by July 14.

As scrutiny over President Biden's health and administration grows, Comer’s demand for transparency from the White House physician underscores the high stakes and intense political climate leading up to the 2024 election.
