White House Confirms Columbia Grad to Be Deported for Supporting Hamas

Karoline Leavitt says foreign nationals have no right to stay in America if they side with terrorists.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Tuesday that Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia graduate student, will be deported after authorities revoked his green card over his support for Hamas.

Speaking at a press conference, Leavitt made it clear that Khalil’s actions made him a national security risk.

“Mahmoud Khalil was an individual who was given the privilege of coming to this country to study at one of our nation’s finest universities and colleges, and he took advantage of that opportunity, of that privilege, by siding with terrorists Hamas terrorists who have killed innocent men, women, and children.”

Leavitt pointed to the Immigration and Nationality Act, which gives the Secretary of State the authority to revoke visas and green cards for individuals deemed adversarial to U.S. foreign policy and national security interests.

  • Khalil, a Syrian national of Palestinian descent, led anti-Israel protests at Columbia University.

  • He was arrested over the weekend from his apartment on Columbia’s campus.

  • His green card was revoked, and he is currently in federal custody.

Leavitt also revealed that Columbia University has been given the names of other students involved in pro-Hamas activities but has refused to cooperate.

“As the president said very strongly in his statement yesterday, he is not going to tolerate that, and we expect all America’s colleges and universities to comply with this administration’s policy.”

A federal judge temporarily blocked Khalil’s immediate deportation as legal challenges play out, but Trump’s administration has made it clear foreign nationals who support terrorist organizations will not remain in the United States.

This is exactly the kind of decisive action that America needs. Under Biden, radical activists were allowed to openly support terror groups on college campuses. Under Trump, they’re being shown the door.
