Ex-CNN Analyst Stunned After Vandals Trash Tesla Over Musk Support
Chris Cillizza calls out leftist hysteria after being targeted for owning a car once hailed by environmentalists.

Former CNN political analyst Chris Cillizza learned the hard way what happens when the Left turns on its own. Over the weekend, Cillizza found his Tesla defaced with a hand-scrawled sign reading “Musk is a Nazi” all while attending his son’s soccer tournament.
Cillizza, who proudly occupied space in the liberal media ecosystem for years, shared the experience in a candid Substack post, admitting the obvious: the Left has gone absolutely insane.
“What happened to me isn’t the end of the world,” he wrote. “But it’s a reminder that the politicization of everything in our lives is making us all crazy.”
That’s rich coming from a man who spent years fueling that same politicization machine at CNN but better late than never.
Back in the day, Teslas were the status symbol of the green left high-dollar electric vehicles worn like a badge of climate virtue. Now, according to Cillizza, “it symbolizes everything the left hates.” Why? Because Elon Musk committed the unpardonable sin of standing up for free speech and aligning himself with President Trump.
Cillizza noted that buying a Tesla five years ago meant “coding yourself as like an enviro-liberal-wacko-communist.” Today? It apparently means you're a fascist.
Here’s the kicker he says he bought the car just because it was “cool” and “fun to drive.” Not as some grand political statement. And yet, he still got targeted by people who can’t separate products from politics.
That’s the America the radical Left has built:
Eat Chick-fil-A? You’re anti-gay.
Buy a Tesla? You’re pro-Trump.
Use X (formerly Twitter)? You’re spreading “misinformation.”
Shop at Hobby Lobby? You must hate women.
Cillizza goes on to rant about how we’ve reached a point where chicken sandwiches are now political symbols. “I didn’t eat it because I wanted to send a message to gay people,” he writes. “I ate it because it was delicious.”
Welcome to the world conservatives have been warning about for years where everything is politicized, and nothing is safe from the woke mob’s judgment.
The irony is hard to miss. Cillizza once helped steer the media narrative that demonized ordinary Americans for their preferences. Now, he’s on the receiving end of that same lunacy.
Even he concedes that this endless war over symbols and consumer choices is “driving us further from any sort of recognition of our common humanity.” He’s right. But the damage is already done.
And while we can appreciate his moment of clarity, many on the Right would argue this is exactly the environment folks like him helped create.
Maybe now, with their own side turning on them, more on the Left will wake up to the madness.
