Bill Clinton Shrugs Off Biden Decline Despite Overwhelming Evidence
Former president claims he saw no signs of Biden’s unfitness as GOP probes cover-up and cancer diagnosis raises new questions.

Bill Clinton thinks Joe Biden was “in good shape.” That’s the latest head-scratching comment from the 78-year-old former president, who told CBS Sunday Morning that he never saw evidence of Biden’s obvious physical or cognitive decline despite overwhelming public footage, internal Democrat panic, and now a blockbuster exposé revealing a coordinated cover-up inside the White House.
In the interview, CBS correspondent Tracy Smith pressed Clinton about “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” the explosive new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’s Alex Thompson.
“Did you ever have a moment with him where you thought maybe he was unfit to run for president?” she asked.
Clinton’s response? “No.”
“I thought he was a good president,” Clinton insisted. “We did several long talks. I never saw him and walked away thinking, He can’t do this anymore.”
That’s a remarkable claim, considering that Biden dropped out of the 2024 race after a disastrous debate performance, when even his own party could no longer pretend he was up to the job. By then, insiders had been leaking for months about Biden’s mental lapses, constant confusion, and physical weakness all documented in Tapper and Thompson’s book.
Yet Clinton says he didn’t notice a thing. He also admitted he hadn’t read the book and didn’t want to. “He’s not president anymore,” Clinton shrugged, “and I think he did a good job.”
Let’s be clear: Biden’s decline wasn’t subtle.
He routinely lost his train of thought mid-sentence during press events.
He fell onstage, stumbled up stairs, and required note cards for even basic remarks.
He confused world leaders, misread teleprompters, and forgot the names of his own cabinet members.
And now, with Biden’s post-presidency prostate cancer diagnosis and reports that he’s battling an “aggressive form” of the disease, questions are swirling about when the administration knew and what they kept from the American people.
House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) is leading the charge to find out. His committee is now seeking testimony from Biden’s former doctors and White House aides, investigating whether there was an intentional effort to hide the President’s condition from voters in the run-up to 2024.
Meanwhile, Biden himself has become increasingly erratic. Asked about his health and the controversy surrounding the book, he lashed out in typical fashion:
“You can see that I’m mentally incompetent and I can’t walk, and I can beat the hell out of both of them,” Biden said, referencing Tapper and Thompson.
Clinton may want to pretend this is all just politics that Biden did a “good job” and is being unfairly scapegoated. But the facts speak for themselves.
The American people were lied to. They were told Biden was fit to serve, when behind the scenes his own staff were shielding him from exposure, canceling public events, and scripting every moment.
Clinton’s denial is more than just wishful thinking it’s complicity.
