Bill Clinton Attacks Trump Over Minnesota Shooting of Armed Civilian

Former president echoes left-wing narrative as Border Patrol faces violent resistance in Minneapolis.

In the wake of another officer-involved shooting in Minneapolis, former President Bill Clinton has emerged from political obscurity to fan the flames of division and accuse federal immigration agents of tyranny all while ignoring the facts and defending individuals who resisted arrest with deadly weapons.

Clinton's comments follow the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old man who was armed and interfered with a targeted federal operation carried out by Border Patrol agents over the weekend. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Pretti was found to be carrying a firearm and resisted agents during a chaotic incident that has quickly been politicized by the media and Democratic leadership.

Despite video evidence showing agents attempting to disarm Pretti, Clinton painted a dramatically different picture, accusing the Trump administration of telling Americans "not to believe what we've seen with our own eyes" and framing federal officers as the aggressors.

Let’s lay out the facts the media is downplaying:

  • Pretti was carrying a concealed weapon during a federal law enforcement operation.

  • DHS confirmed he was interfering with an active arrest and was armed at the time.

  • Federal agents reported that Pretti resisted arrest and attempted to reach for his weapon, prompting agents to respond with defensive force.

  • Medics on the scene attempted to save his life, but he was later pronounced dead.

Clinton’s statement, however, skipped over those key details, instead claiming that peaceful Americans are being “beaten, teargassed, and most searingly… shot and killed.” His comments come just weeks after another violent altercation in the city, where federal officers were attacked during the arrest of an illegal immigrant suspected of violent assault.

This is the same Minneapolis where violent mobs have assaulted agents, where masked protesters have disrupted law enforcement operations, and where local officials have repeatedly sided against the rule of law in favor of radical street activism.

But Clinton went further, accusing federal agents of using "aggressive and antagonistic tactics" and said, “If we give our freedoms away after 250 years, we might never get them back.” It’s a deeply ironic comment coming from a man whose administration expanded federal law enforcement powers in the 1990s but who now turns a blind eye when criminals resist arrest and get violent.

What Clinton failed to mention:

  • Over 3,000 illegal aliens with criminal records have been arrested in Minnesota alone since Operation Metro Surge began.

  • DHS officers are operating under legal authority to enforce immigration laws and remove dangerous individuals, many of whom were released by sanctuary jurisdictions.

  • In recent weeks, agents have arrested pedophiles, drug traffickers, and violent felons yet Democrats are more outraged by the arrests than the crimes.

Rather than supporting law enforcement in difficult and dangerous conditions, Clinton and his allies are choosing to undermine public trust and advance a false narrative one that endangers officers and emboldens radicals.

This is not about protecting civil liberties. It’s about protecting power, narratives, and votes.
