Top Chinese Official Mocks Americans as ‘Peasants’ Amid Trump’s Tariff Crackdown

Beijing lashes out as Trump’s bold economic strategy exposes the fragility of China’s grip on global trade.

In a stunning display of arrogance and contempt, a top Chinese Communist official openly mocked the American people, calling them “peasants” and sneering that they would “wail in front of the 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.” The remarks came after President Trump announced a 145% tariff on Chinese goods, sending a powerful message that America will no longer be economically bullied by Beijing.

Xia Baolong, a senior Chinese leader who oversees Hong Kong and Macao, lashed out on state television, claiming the new tariffs are “brutally unreasonable” and a threat to China’s “very survival.” But instead of diplomatic restraint, Baolong resorted to insults scoffing at Americans while doubling down on Beijing’s narrative of invincibility.

“Let those peasants in the United States wail,” Baolong snarled. “The Chinese people do not cause trouble, nor are they afraid of trouble.”

This is what happens when a once-pampered globalist regime is finally held accountable.

President Trump’s tariff war is about far more than trade imbalances. It’s about reasserting economic sovereignty, stopping the hemorrhaging of American industry, and defending our nation from a regime that has stolen intellectual property, manipulated currency, and shipped fentanyl into our communities. According to the U.S. Trade Representative, China’s unfair trade practices have cost the U.S. economy hundreds of billions of dollars over the past two decades.

And now that the gravy train is over, the CCP is throwing a tantrum.

Xia’s condescending rhetoric echoed the same elitism that globalist apologists in the West often parrot painting hardworking Americans as backward or expendable. Ironically, his comments come just weeks after Vice President JD Vance put it bluntly:

“We borrow money from Chinese peasants to buy the things those Chinese peasants manufacture. That is not a recipe for economic prosperity.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded with faux outrage, calling Vance’s comments “ignorant and disrespectful.” But the truth stings and Beijing knows it’s losing its grip.

This isn’t the first time the Chinese Communist Party has flexed its verbal muscles. In 2023, Xi Jinping warned Joe Biden that reunifying with Taiwan was “unstoppable.” Back in 2019, China threatened to halt rare earth mineral exports to the U.S., using chilling wartime rhetoric: “Don’t say we didn’t warn you.”

But these threats aren’t signs of strength they’re signs of desperation. China is watching its economic leverage slip as Trump reclaims America’s industrial might and restores a fair-trade model that puts American workers first.

Let’s not forget: under Biden and Obama, China was emboldened. Manufacturing was outsourced, trade deficits exploded, and American jobs disappeared. But now, with Trump reasserting control, the CCP is getting exactly what it fears a resurgent, independent, and unrelenting United States.

Americans aren’t peasants. We’re patriots. And thanks to leadership that puts America first, we won’t be kneeling to a regime that crushes dissent, censors thought, and threatens war over trade.
