Senator Kelly Calls for ‘Serious Consequences’ for China’s Cyberattack
Biden’s weak leadership has emboldened China’s aggression.
Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) is calling for "serious consequences" against China following its massive cyberattack on U.S. telecommunications companies. However, given the Biden administration’s weak stance on China, many are questioning whether real action will be taken or if this will be yet another empty promise from Washington.
Appearing on CBS News’ “Face The Nation”, Kelly admitted that Chinese cyber software is deeply embedded in U.S. telecom systems, posing a major security risk. He suggested that American companies may have to upgrade their infrastructure to fix the issue a costly endeavor that will take time.
China’s brazen cyberattack is just the latest example of its escalating aggression against the U.S.:
Chinese hackers have repeatedly targeted critical U.S. infrastructure, including military networks and financial institutions.
Chinese spy balloons entered U.S. airspace last year, while Biden did nothing.
TikTok remains a national security threat, with direct ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Despite these ongoing threats, the Biden administration has been shockingly weak in responding. Instead of holding China accountable, the White House continues to focus on climate deals and trade negotiations allowing Beijing to act without fear of consequences.
Kelly also addressed the impending TikTok ban, set to take effect on January 19th just one day before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office.
While Kelly acknowledged the concerns of those who rely on TikTok for income, he emphasized that the app’s real danger lies in its ability to manipulate Americans especially during times of conflict.
"It has a national security risk to it. One is the data... but the thing that I’m more concerned about is their ability to manipulate the population of the United States," Kelly said.
The real question now is: Will Biden finally hold China accountable, or will it be up to Trump to take real action once again?
Biden’s track record suggests weakness, but with Trump and JD Vance set to take office, China’s free rein over American cyberspace could soon come to an end.
America cannot afford more inaction.
