Canada to Recognize Palestinian State, Defying Trump and Rewarding Hamas
PM Mark Carney aligns with France and Britain in legitimizing a terror-linked regime as Israel fights for its survival.

Canada just crossed a dangerous line. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Wednesday that his government plans to recognize a Palestinian state this September at the United Nations a move Israel has slammed as a blatant reward for Hamas terrorists.
“We are working… to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution,” Carney said, blaming Israel for the humanitarian situation in Gaza and condemning Jewish settlements.
Carney’s statement was met with swift outrage from Israel, which called the move “a reward for Hamas” and warned it would sabotage efforts to secure a ceasefire and the release of the hostages still held since Hamas’s brutal October 7 attack. That massacre, which left 1,200 Israelis dead and 251 hostages taken, was the worst mass killing of Jews since the Holocaust.
So what does Canada do? Side with the terrorists.
Carney’s recognition of a Palestinian state mirrors the recent positions of France and Britain, both of which have expressed intent to push statehood at the U.N. if Israel doesn’t agree to a ceasefire. In doing so, they’ve ignored the obvious: Hamas is still in control of Gaza, and any recognition of Palestinian statehood under current conditions gives legitimacy to jihadist rule.
Let’s not forget:
Hamas has refused to surrender or disarm, and continues to launch attacks while hiding behind civilian populations.
The Palestinian Authority hasn’t held elections in nearly two decades, and corruption runs rampant.
More than 60,000 deaths reported by Hamas’s “health ministry” are being parroted by global leaders without questioning their validity or the terror group’s use of human shields.
Even the White House agrees with President Trump, calling the Canadian move a direct reward for Hamas and confirming that Trump “doesn’t think they should be rewarded.”
“President Trump’s focus is on getting people fed,” a U.S. official said, as Trump also warned that this decision by Canada will “make it very hard” to negotiate a trade deal with them moving forward.
The Biden holdovers and their European allies keep pushing this fantasy that recognizing a Palestinian state will “revive the peace process.” But there’s no peace when one side celebrates child murderers and the other is forced to defend its civilians from endless rocket fire.
The reality is this Carney is pandering to anti-Israel activists, not pursuing peace. He’s undermining Israel’s right to self-defense while emboldening a terror-supporting population that chants for the destruction of the Jewish state. His announcement came after a call with French President Emmanuel Macron the same man who recently undermined Israel’s right to exist by pushing for a unilateral Palestinian state.
What’s happening is nothing short of diplomatic betrayal. Instead of standing with the West’s only true democracy in the Middle East, Canada, France, and Britain are rewarding extremism, destabilizing global alliances, and signaling to terrorists that they can achieve statehood through slaughter.
This is not peace this is capitulation.
