Oklahoma City Councilmember Resigns After Libs of TikTok Exposes Vile Anti-Trump Comment
Bree Montoya told a Trump supporter to harm herself resigns only after national backlash.

In yet another example of radical Leftist hate unraveling in the spotlight, Oklahoma city councilmember Bree Danyele Montoya abruptly resigned this week after telling a Trump supporter to harm herself in a Facebook argument that went viral after being shared by Libs of TikTok.
Montoya, who represented Ward 3 in Norman, Oklahoma, made the vile comment in a heated June exchange with local constituent Audra Abbott, calling her “uneducated” before escalating the rhetoric to a dangerous personal attack. At the time, the city council did nothing until the post exploded online, thanks to Libs of TikTok.
“If it hadn’t went viral with Libs of TikTok picking it up, I don’t think that anything would have happened at all,” Abbott told local news.
Montoya officially resigned Tuesday evening during a city council meeting, citing her long tenure and a desire to “pursue other interests.” In reality, it took national exposure and public pressure to force her out.
This is the playbook we’ve seen over and over again:
Left-wing officials spew hate at conservatives.
Local leaders stay silent, hoping it’ll blow over.
Corporate media ignores it.
Until someone like Chaya Raichik of Libs of TikTok steps in and pulls back the curtain.
“With a rising trend of violent left-wing extremists targeting conservatives, it is our duty to hold elected officials accountable for violent rhetoric,” Raichik told Fox News Digital.
And she's right. The Biden-era Left has created a culture where violence, threats, and dehumanizing rhetoric toward Trump supporters is not only tolerated it’s encouraged. The media shrugs, local officials look the other way, and anyone who pushes back is accused of being the “threat.”
Let’s be clear: if a Republican had told a progressive activist to go harm themselves, every major media outlet would be running wall-to-wall coverage, and the DOJ might already be sniffing around for hate crime charges.
But because it was a Trump supporter, Montoya thought she could get away with it.
Even after the screenshots began circulating in local Facebook groups over the summer, Norman’s city leadership did nothing. The outrage was only acknowledged after it became too big to ignore. And now, just three months into her new term, Montoya is out.
It’s also worth noting that Montoya was re-elected in February 2025 and sworn in on July 1 only to resign less than 90 days later. That’s how fast the Left collapses when the truth about their rhetoric comes to light.
At the September 23 council meeting, Mayor Stephen Tyler Holman tiptoed around the issue, hiding behind vague statements about the First Amendment and “respectful” discourse but failed to directly condemn the actions of his former colleague.
This wasn’t just “incivility.” It was a dangerous display of hatred from an elected official who had no business holding public office in the first place.
Now the Ward 3 seat is vacant, and Norman will begin the process of finding someone new. Let’s hope this time they choose someone who doesn’t think threatening political opponents is part of the job.
