Billionaire Bill Ackman Pledges to Crush Mamdani’s Mayoral Bid

Wall Street titan offers hundreds of millions to back anti-socialist candidate as NYC braces for far-left takeover.

Wall Street heavyweight Bill Ackman is sounding the alarm and putting his money where his mouth is in a bid to block radical socialist Zohran Mamdani from seizing control of America’s largest city.

The billionaire hedge fund manager announced Wednesday he’s ready to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to support any viable candidate who can take down Mamdani in the general election this November.

“I awoke this morning gravely concerned about New York City,” Ackman posted on X, warning that Mamdani’s victory in the Democratic primary could turn the financial capital of the world into “another failed major city run by Democrats,” like San Francisco, Chicago, or Los Angeles.

  • Mamdani has pushed policies like rent freezes, defunding the NYPD, and city-owned supermarkets.

  • He has refused to condemn anti-Israel hate speech, praised convicted Hamas financiers, and even rapped about his “love” for them.

  • Ackman warned NYC would become “economically unviable” and dangerous under Mamdani’s leadership.

“This is Christmas in July for the GOP,” Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) quipped and he’s not wrong. Mamdani’s win has sparked panic among moderates, business leaders, and everyday New Yorkers who don’t want to see their city turned into a socialist experiment.

Ackman isn’t just tweeting he’s actively building a coalition to fund and back a challenger, potentially even a write-in campaign. And he’s already tapping into political heavyweights like former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, promising to mobilize Bloomberg’s full election machine.

“There are hundreds of millions of dollars of capital available to back a competitor to Mamdani that can be put together overnight,” Ackman wrote.

The billionaire also cited Mamdani’s radicalism on the world stage, warning that “a mayor who condones hate speech will incentivize more hate speech and violence.”

With incumbent Eric Adams running as an independent and Republican Curtis Sliwa holding the GOP line, a three-way race is already on the books. But Ackman’s deep-pocketed call to action opens the door to a fourth and potentially game-changing contender.

If Mamdani wins, New York could face a mass exodus of talent, jobs, and capital all while becoming the poster child for the failed policies of the far left.
