Greg Stanton (D-AZ) echoed similar sentiments, accusing Biden of making a grievous error in judgment. “This wasn’t a politically-motivated prosecution,” Stanton wrote on X. “Hunter committed felonies and was convicted by a jury of his peers.” Stanton’s statement underscores the seriousness of the charges against Hunter and highlights how Biden’s pardon undermines the rule of law.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump did not hold back in his condemnation of Biden’s actions. “Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” Trump asked on social media. He described the pardon as “an abuse and miscarriage of Justice,” reinforcing his campaign’s central message that Biden has weaponized the justice system for personal and political gain.

A spokesperson for Trump also weighed in, emphasizing the need for reform. “The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system,” the statement read.
