House Intel Chair Criticizes Biden-Harris Administration’s Inaction After Iran’s Attempt on Trump’s Life

House Intelligence Chair Mike Turner slams White House for weak response to Iran’s threat.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) is raising alarm over the Biden-Harris administration's lack of response after Iran reportedly attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump. During a Sunday appearance on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Turner criticized the administration for failing to take decisive action against what he described as an “act of war.”

The alarming situation involves more than just an assassination plot. According to Turner, Iran has been actively interfering in the U.S. election by hacking the Trump campaign and engaging in disinformation campaigns aimed at influencing the outcome of the 2024 race. Despite the serious nature of these actions, Turner pointed out that the administration has remained disturbingly silent.

  • A Serious Threat Ignored: Turner highlighted that the Biden administration has acknowledged Iran's efforts to carry out these nefarious activities, including the assassination plot against Trump. “You have Microsoft coming forward and saying that the Trump campaign had been hacked. The administration, the Biden administration, had identified that Iran was attempting to do this, including spinning misinformation,” Turner said. Yet, he lamented, the White House has not responded adequately to these provocations.

  • An Act of War: Turner emphasized that any attempt to assassinate a presidential candidate by a foreign power constitutes an act of war. “This is not a law enforcement issue,” Turner asserted, arguing that such a serious threat demands more than just an arrest; it requires a firm and strategic response from the administration. The Biden-Harris team, however, has drawn “no red lines” with Iran, leaving the regime unchecked.

  • National Security Concerns: Turner’s comments come at a time when national security experts are increasingly concerned about foreign interference in U.S. elections. The failure to address Iran’s actions, including their attempts to manipulate the electoral process, raises questions about the administration’s commitment to protecting American sovereignty and democracy.

As Turner pointed out, the administration has access to classified intelligence that underscores the seriousness of the threat posed by Iran. Yet, despite this knowledge, the response from the White House has been conspicuously absent. Turner called for immediate action, urging the administration to clearly state its red lines and take steps to deter further aggression from Iran.

The Biden-Harris administration’s reluctance to confront Iran on these matters could have far-reaching implications. As Turner warned, failing to respond now could embolden Iran and other adversaries, putting the safety and security of the United States at greater risk.
