Biden’s Farewell Address Exposes His Hypocrisy

A lifetime politician laments the “oligarchy” he helped create.

President Joe Biden delivered his farewell address last night, offering a parting shot at America’s “tech oligarchy.” While attempting to channel Dwight Eisenhower’s famous warning about the military-industrial complex, Biden’s remarks revealed a stunning lack of self-awareness from a man who has been a career cog in the very system he decries.

Eisenhower’s caution about the defense industry was flawed in its own right, but Biden managed to find an even more ridiculous boogeyman. The irony of Biden railing against tech billionaires is impossible to ignore. After all, Big Tech played a pivotal role in his 2020 victory, working hand-in-hand with his allies to suppress damaging stories like the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

Biden took the podium to warn of a new oligarchy, claiming:

“An oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead.”

He likened today’s tech leaders to the robber barons of the Gilded Age, suggesting that America must “bust the trusts” to protect democracy. But who does Biden think is driving innovation, creating jobs, and fueling the economy? It’s not career politicians like himself, nor is it the bureaucratic machine he champions.

For Biden to posture as a defender of the working class against wealthy elites is laughable. This is the same man who has spent five decades in Washington, collecting a government paycheck and using political power to entrench his own influence. Biden, who has never run a business or created a single job, now wants to lecture entrepreneurs and innovators about fairness.

Here’s the reality:

  • Big Tech’s role in Biden’s rise: Companies like Twitter and Facebook colluded to suppress critical information during the 2020 election, ensuring Biden’s path to the presidency.

  • Wealthy donor support: Billionaires overwhelmingly back Biden and the Democratic Party, funding campaigns that further expand government control.

  • Economic consequences of Biden’s policies: From inflation to regulatory overreach, Biden’s administration has stifled the very free-market principles that allow Americans to thrive.

At the heart of Biden’s farewell address lies a stark contrast in visions for the country. He believes in a top-down system where the government assigns roles and redistributes wealth. In contrast, conservatives champion a bottom-up approach that allows individuals to rise based on their own merits.

When Biden speaks of “freedom,” he means the government’s version of it—a controlled existence where bureaucrats decide who wins and who loses. True freedom, however, comes from limited government and free markets that empower people to chart their own paths.

As Biden laments an oligarchy that he helped build, his words ring hollow. He has spent a lifetime benefiting from political power while demonizing those who actually drive progress. It’s fitting that his final address should be as out-of-touch as his presidency has been.

America deserves leadership that respects innovation, celebrates productivity, and values individual liberty. Thankfully, Biden’s departure marks the end of an era defined by hypocrisy, overreach, and stagnation.
