Biden Misleads Public, Claiming He Freed 100 Gaza Hostages
The president takes credit for hostage releases he had little to do with.
At the White House Hanukkah reception this week, President Joe Biden made a brazen claim that left critics stunned. Referring to the ongoing hostage crisis following Hamas’ barbaric October 7th attack on Israel, Biden declared, “I’ve gotten over 100 hostages out.”
It’s a statement that’s not just misleading it’s completely untrue. Here are the facts:
Of the 251 hostages kidnapped by Hamas terrorists during their unprovoked assault, 117 have been returned so far.
Eight hostages were rescued by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), a fact that had nothing to do with Biden.
105 hostages were released through a temporary ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas a deal brokered largely through Israel, Qatar, and Egypt.
Four hostages were separately released by Hamas.
Nowhere in these negotiations or rescue efforts did Biden play the lead role. Yet, there he was at the White House, falsely taking credit for bringing the hostages home. Critics were quick to call him out.
Andrew Follett put it bluntly: “To be clear, Biden is lying.” Others echoed the frustration, with one commenter noting, “What an insult he always manages to be.”
Biden’s claim is not just tone-deaf; it’s an insult to the families of the hostages still held captive. It’s Israel through its military and relentless negotiations that has worked tirelessly to bring their people home. Biden, on the other hand, is attempting to politically capitalize on a tragedy that he had little control over.
This isn’t the first time Biden’s words have raised eyebrows. Over the weekend, he told attendees at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) holiday reception that his campaign had been “basically scandal free.” Americans might disagree.
After all, this is the same president whose tenure has been marred by economic chaos, soaring inflation, foreign policy disasters, and rising international instability. For someone who constantly calls for “honesty,” Biden’s remarks are a stark reminder of his administration’s habit of bending reality to fit their narrative.
In truth, Biden’s weakness on the world stage has emboldened bad actors like Hamas. Instead of standing firm, his administration pushes for ceasefires that allow terrorists to regroup and rearm while Israel fights for survival. The American people see through the spin. They know the hostages’ safe return is thanks to Israeli perseverance not empty rhetoric from the White House.
Biden can claim all he wants, but the facts don’t lie. As Israel continues its fight against terror, one thing is clear: America needs leadership that deals in reality, not delusions.
