Biden Confirms Medical Exam After Debate, Contradicting Press Secretary

In a surprising turn of events, President Joe Biden reportedly told a group of Democratic governors that he saw a doctor following last week’s debate against former President Donald Trump. This revelation stands in stark contrast to the statement made by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on the same day.

According to POLITICO, three individuals familiar with Biden’s private meeting with over 20 Democratic governors disclosed that Biden mentioned being examined by a doctor after the debate, who gave him the all-clear. This meeting occurred amid growing concerns from Democrats and political commentators about Biden’s fitness and ability to continue his re-election campaign following a notably poor debate performance.

During a White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre had stated that Biden had not undergone “any kind of medical exam” since his annual physical in February. When pressed by CNN’s MJ Lee, Jean-Pierre reaffirmed, “No.”

However, the narrative shifted when White House spokesman Andrew Bates later confirmed that Biden was checked by his doctor following the debate "to check on his cold and was recovering well." Bates clarified that it was a brief check and not a full physical.

The president, in a Wednesday interview with a Wisconsin radio station, admitted to a poor debate performance, urging voters to focus on his achievements during his presidency. “I had a bad night, I had a bad night. And the fact of the matter is … I screwed up, I made a mistake,” Biden said, as reported by NBC News. He continued, “Look at what I’ve done in 3.5 years. I led the economy back from the brink of collapse.”

Former President Trump seized the opportunity to criticize Biden post-debate, remarking, “there is a BIG GAP for Crooked Joe to make up, and with his mind and memory completely shot, and marbles in his mouth, it’s not going to happen!” In a leaked video that went viral, Trump referred to Biden as a “broken down pile of crap,” suggesting that Biden is considering dropping out of the race.

The conflicting statements and public scrutiny underscore the heightened attention on Biden's health and performance as the election approaches. As debates over his fitness continue, Biden's team will need to navigate these challenges while maintaining focus on his administration’s achievements.
