President Biden Faces Backlash for Criticizing Trump During Jimmy Carter Tribute

President Joe Biden has drawn sharp criticism for remarks made following the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, using the solemn occasion to take a swipe at President-elect Donald Trump. Speaking at a press conference Sunday night, Biden was asked what lesson Trump could take from Carter’s legacy. His response: “Decency.”

“Decency, decency, decency,” Biden repeated. “Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk? I can’t. I can’t.”

The comments, viewed by many as a veiled attack on Trump, immediately sparked backlash across social media and from prominent conservative voices.

• Radio host Hugh Hewitt condemned Biden’s remarks, highlighting what he called “the greatest cover-up in modern American political history.” Hewitt questioned Biden’s fitness for office, challenging the president to prove his mental acuity by sitting for a serious interview.

• Political commentator Stephen L. Miller pointed out the hypocrisy in Biden’s narrative of “decency,” noting that Trump publicly acknowledges all of his grandchildren, while Biden’s family dynamics have drawn scrutiny.

• Margot Cleveland of The Federalist minced no words, stating that Biden “proves he is not a decent man.”

Other critics, including David Limbaugh, brother of the late Rush Limbaugh, sarcastically referred to Biden as a “sweet, sweet man,” mocking the president’s self-portrayal as a paragon of virtue.

Critics argue that Biden’s remarks during a time of national mourning were tone-deaf and inappropriate. Carter’s legacy, known for its focus on humanitarian efforts and humility, was overshadowed by the president’s political jab. Jorge Bonilla of NewsBusters called out Biden for the “unmitigated gall” to lecture Americans on decency while his own administration faces numerous scandals.
