Biden Administration Denies Nikki Haley Secret Service Protection Amid Iranian Threats

Despite facing credible assassination threats, Haley remains without federal security, while others in Trump’s circle have received protection.

The Biden administration continues to fail in its responsibility to protect key political figures, including former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. Despite mounting threats from Iranian-backed sources, Haley remains without government-provided security, revealing a disturbing trend in the way the current administration handles the safety of its political opponents.

For years, Haley has been on Iran’s radar due to her work in the Trump administration, and the threats against her have only increased. In 2021, Haley was informed by the FBI that she was placed on an Iranian “kill list.” This is no isolated incident. Iranian-linked actors have repeatedly targeted Haley, with the latest being a murder-for-hire plot exposed in July. But shockingly, despite the credible threat, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has ignored her request for Secret Service protection.

  • Haley formally asked for Secret Service protection on January 26, 2024, after her campaign faced increasing threats, including a near-assault at a rally.

  • The Candidate Protection Advisory Committee voted to grant Haley protection in February, but DHS has not responded.

  • Haley’s home has been repeatedly targeted, and law enforcement has deemed several threats credible.

What’s even more alarming is the double standard. Former Trump officials like Mike Pompeo and John Bolton, who faced similar threats from Iran, have received security details long after leaving office. Pompeo, for instance, had his protection renewed for the 13th time in December 2023. Yet, for Haley, the Biden administration has remained silent, leaving her vulnerable as she suspended her campaign in March 2024.

The contrast is clear: while Biden’s administration shows no hesitation in providing protection to those in their inner circle, it seems content to leave Haley, a conservative woman and potential presidential candidate, out in the cold. Given the broader Iranian-backed assassination plots that have targeted U.S. leaders—including Trump, Biden, and Haley—it is clear that the current administration's indifference to her safety is not only dangerous but also deeply partisan.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) recently revealed an Iran-linked plot to assassinate these leaders, yet the administration still fails to act decisively. The same government that pushes for transparency in its dealings remains murky on protecting those who are critical of it. Haley’s situation should be a wake-up call: weak leadership is leaving prominent figures vulnerable, and the Biden administration’s refusal to take action is nothing short of neglect.

We cannot afford to continue this way. Haley’s resilience in the face of Iranian threats is commendable, but the fact remains: no American political leader should have to face such danger without adequate protection. If the Biden administration won’t step up, it only raises questions about their priorities and commitment to safeguarding our leaders.

It’s time to demand better from our government.
