Group Tied to Beto O’Rourke Investigated for Alleged Bribes in Texas Democrat Walkout
Paxton launches probe into illegal payments as Democrats flee Texas to obstruct redistricting.

Texas Democrats may be facing more than just fines after fleeing their state to block a vote they could be facing felony charges.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Wednesday that his office has launched a criminal investigation into a group led by serial election loser Beto O’Rourke. The group, Powered by People, is accused of potentially bribing Democrat lawmakers to skip out on their constitutional duties and avoid a redistricting vote.
“Any Democrat coward breaking the law by taking a Beto Bribe will be held accountable,” Paxton said. “Texas cannot be bought.”
The facts are clear:
Over 50 Democrat legislators fled to Illinois to deny the Texas House a quorum for passing new congressional maps.
These maps are projected to give Republicans five new seats, aligning with recent voting trends and correcting years of Democrat-favored gerrymanders.
Each AWOL lawmaker is incurring a $500 daily fine, which O’Rourke’s group is allegedly covering potentially violating campaign finance and bribery laws.
Democrat leaders have launched donation sites encouraging contributions up to $2,500 per lawmaker to support the legislative stunt.
Powered by People, Beto’s organization, claims to be about “long-term change,” but its tactics look a lot more like organized obstruction and unlawful coordination.
Let’s be honest: this is not grassroots democracy. It’s a desperate attempt to hijack the process because Democrats can’t win it legitimately.
While Paxton is moving forward with subpoenas and forensic reviews, Speaker of the Texas House Dustin Burrows has set a Friday deadline for lawmakers to return or face removal proceedings. President Trump and Senator John Cornyn have also supported legal action, with Cornyn requesting FBI support to locate the rogue legislators. Trump backed the move earlier this week, calling it “essential for constitutional order.”
And the Democrats’ response? Deflection.
O’Rourke, who has lost races for Senate, president, and governor, attacked Paxton for being impeached conveniently omitting the fact that Paxton was acquitted by the state Senate. O’Rourke is clearly trying to change the subject, but Texans aren’t buying it.
Meanwhile, Democrat Rep. Gene Wu who orchestrated the walkout is now under multiple legal threats from both Paxton and Abbott, who are seeking to strip him of his seat for dereliction of duty.
The Democrats call this “fighting for democracy.” But real democracy requires showing up and voting not fleeing your job and begging for bailouts from progressive activist groups.
This investigation could be a turning point. If bribes were offered and taken this goes from political theater to criminal conspiracy. And Texans deserve nothing less than the full truth.
Stay tuned as this story unfolds and be sure to share this with anyone who still thinks Beto O’Rourke represents the future of anything other than radical lawlessness.
