Sanders Erupts Following Corruption Allegations from RFK Jr.
Heated Senate exchange exposes Sanders’ deep ties to pharmaceutical money.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) lost his temper on Thursday after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called him out for taking millions from Big Pharma. The fiery exchange took place during Kennedy’s Senate confirmation hearing for Secretary of Health and Human Services, where Sanders tried to corner him on government-run healthcare only to have the tables turned.
Sanders, a lifelong socialist, attempted to get RFK Jr. to pledge support for universal healthcare, something he has long championed despite the disastrous results in countries that have implemented it.
“If we want to make America healthy, will you assure the American people that you will fight to do what every other major country on earth does guarantee healthcare to every single American?” Sanders demanded.
Kennedy didn’t take the bait. Instead, he responded, “I’m going to make America healthier than any other country in the world right now.”
That wasn’t good enough for Sanders, who immediately cut him off, shouting, “It’s a simple question, Bobby.”
Instead of backing down, Kennedy exposed the real problem in America’s healthcare system: corruption including in Congress.
“The problem of corruption is not just in the federal agencies, it’s in Congress, too. Almost all the members of this panel are accepting, including yourself, millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry to protect their interests,” Kennedy fired back.
Sanders erupted. “Oh no, no, no! No, no, no,” he insisted, before trying to deflect by pointing to his 2020 presidential campaign contributions.
But Kennedy was ready with the facts. “In 2020, you were the single largest recipient of pharmaceutical dollars,” he shot back.
Sanders likes to portray himself as a crusader against corporate greed, but the reality is far different:
In 2020, Sanders received more money from pharmaceutical companies than any other senator.
While he claims the money came from “workers,” those workers are employed by the very industry he claims to oppose.
Despite railing against Big Pharma, Sanders has failed to take meaningful action to hold them accountable for price gouging and dangerous drugs.
Bernie Sanders got caught. He talks a big game about fighting corporate greed, but when confronted with the truth about his own financial ties to Big Pharma, he lost control.
RFK Jr.’s performance in this hearing was exactly why the Democrats fear him. He exposed the hypocrisy of the so-called progressive champions who claim to fight for the people while quietly taking millions from the industries they pretend to oppose.
This is the fight we need in Washington. Share this article or subscribe to our newsletter for updates to expose the corruption Sanders doesn’t want Americans to see.
