Bernie Sanders Mocks GOP Women in Rant Against Identity Politics

Senator blasts Republican female governors and diversity in Trump’s cabinet while doubling down on far-left class warfare.

In a tone-deaf and revealing rant, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) took aim at female Republican governors and mocked the growing diversity within the GOP during a podcast interview Thursday exposing the radical Left’s hypocrisy when it comes to women in leadership.

Appearing on Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast, Sanders trashed the Democratic Party’s obsession with identity politics but managed to take a swipe at conservative women in the same breath. His comments quickly lit up social media and drew fierce backlash.

“Donald Trump has surrounding him a whole lot of women. There are right-wing women governors all over this country, right? Are we all very proud? Oh man, thank God we got a woman in politics who does not believe in women's right to control her own body, who, you know, is terrible to workers… but we’re proud that she’s a woman!” Sanders sneered.

So much for the Left’s claim to be the party of tolerance and equality.

Currently, the Republican Party has four female governors leading their states:

  • Gov. Kay Ivey (Alabama)

  • Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (Arkansas)

  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte (New Hampshire)

  • Gov. Kim Reynolds (Iowa)

Each one of these women won their races by earning the trust of their constituents not by checking a diversity box. But to Bernie Sanders, their success is meaningless because they don’t support his socialist agenda.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders fired back, saying:

“Bernie Sanders made it clear: He only cares about women if they support his radical left agenda. President Trump believes in empowering every woman and everyone in America, and I’m proud to have his support as the first woman to lead my state and the youngest governor in the country.”

Bernie’s message was clear: it’s not enough to be a woman, a minority, or part of the LGBTQ+ community you have to fall in line with the Democratic Party’s far-left ideology. Otherwise, your achievements mean nothing to them.

This is the twisted nature of identity politics in the modern Left:

  • Diversity is praised only when it serves progressive goals.

  • Women are celebrated unless they’re conservative.

  • “Representation” only matters if it votes blue.

Sanders tried to pivot his remarks toward class issues, ranting about raising the minimum wage and redistributing wealth. But in doing so, he exposed a deeper truth about the Left’s priorities: they don’t care about who you are unless you help push their political power.

“Are you going to stand with working families?” Sanders asked. “Are you going to guarantee healthcare to all people or not?... No one cares what color you are, you know, what your gender is.”

That’s rich coming from a party that’s spent the last decade obsessing over skin color, pronouns, and “lived experiences.”

The GOP has been quietly and steadily building a more diverse coalition not because it’s trendy, but because more Americans of every background are waking up to the failures of Democrat rule. That includes powerful, principled women like Huckabee Sanders, Reynolds, and Ayotte who actually govern not pander.

Bernie’s tantrum is just another example of the Left eating its own and exposing their selective outrage in the process.
