Barstool Founder Criticizes Democrats for 'Hijacking' Democracy

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy didn’t hold back his outrage over what he sees as Democrats “hijacking” democracy. After President Joe Biden announced he was exiting the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, Portnoy took to Instagram to express his fury.

Portnoy described his frustration with the left's actions, stating it was infuriating to hear them call former President Donald Trump a “threat to Democracy” while, in his view, they trampled on democratic principles by not holding a primary and appointing Harris.

“I’m a libertarian,” Portnoy began. “I’m very much pro-choice … I’m not religious at all. So, there’s a lot on the Right that I don’t agree with … but I f***ing hate the extreme Left. And they are reminding me why I cannot vote for them.”

Portnoy made his stance on Harris clear, citing her poor performance in the 2020 primaries where she received no votes. “You know Kamala, news flash, ran for president in 2020. You know how many votes she got? Zero,” he pointed out, highlighting how disliked she was as a candidate.

Portnoy's frustration was further fueled by comments from leftist filmmaker Rob Reiner, who claimed that “Democracy will survive” now that Biden was out and Harris was running.

“The Democrats and the Left, the way they s*** on our face and tell us it’s 80 [degrees] and sunny is so infuriating,” Portnoy raged. “Just admit you hijacked democracy. You hate him [Trump] so much you’re willing to trample on democracy. Steal the vote from the American public. The most, supposedly, important right an American has, the right to vote … you have stolen it from the Democratic Party.”

Portnoy accused the Democratic Party of taking away the public’s right to choose their candidate, asserting that an elite group decided for them. “You have said, ‘You don’t get to choose who runs for president, we do, a group of elite, small people are going to handpick and shove down your throat who you vote for,’” he added.

Portnoy also suggested that the Democrats’ decision to have Biden debate Trump was a strategic move to remove him from the ticket. His criticism encapsulates the sentiment that many feel about the transparency and democratic integrity of the current political landscape.
