House Budget Chair Blasts Hakeem Jeffries for Medicaid Lies

Rep. Jodey Arrington dismantles Democrat scare tactics and calls out the bloated Medicaid system that rewards fraud while neglecting the truly vulnerable.

House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) has had enough of the Democratic Party’s scare tactics, especially when it comes to saving taxpayer dollars and fixing broken entitlement programs. On Fox News Sunday, Arrington fired back at House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who had accused Republicans of trying to “end Medicaid as we know it” in the latest GOP budget reconciliation plan.

“They want to hurt children, hurt families, hurt seniors… and people will die,” Jeffries melodramatically claimed.

Arrington wasn’t having it.

“This is the same tired play they run,” he said. “The question is, will we be susceptible to the fear-mongering and the false rhetoric that you just heard?”

It’s the typical Democrat strategy: sow fear, twist facts, and protect bloated bureaucracies. Jeffries’ wild exaggerations ignore the plain reality: Medicaid is a program riddled with waste, fraud, and abuse, and Republicans are finally doing something about it.

  • The Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates $500 billion in Medicaid waste and fraud over the next 10 years.

  • Able-bodied adults receive higher federal reimbursement than pregnant women, the disabled, and the truly poor thanks to Obama’s disastrous Medicaid expansion.

  • There’s no work requirement for able-bodied adults, even though nearly every other welfare program includes one.

“We can save over $1.5 trillion without touching a dime of the benefit funding,” Arrington explained.

Let that sink in. Democrats are screaming about hospitals closing and seniors dying, while Republicans are talking about targeted reforms to eliminate fraud and prioritize the truly needy. Which sounds more reasonable?

Even President Trump who’s repeatedly said Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security won’t be touched has made it clear: illegal immigrants and freeloaders should not be draining American entitlement programs. That’s not compassion. That’s corruption.

Arrington’s plan aims to protect the most vulnerable Americans, not gut the program. It’s about restoring integrity to a system that’s been hijacked for political gain and reckless spending. And while Democrats keep trying to scare voters into submission, Republicans are actually focused on fiscal sanity and moral responsibility.

“This moment will not happen in my political lifetime again,” Arrington said. “We have to seize it.”

He’s right. The Left’s scare tactics have worked for far too long. It’s time for Republicans to stop playing defense and start leading by cutting out the fraud, restoring work requirements, and prioritizing American citizens who truly need help.
