Lawsuits Filed Against All Arizona Counties Over Alleged Voter Roll Violations
America First Legal takes action, accusing counties of neglecting election integrity.
America First Legal (AFL) has launched a major legal battle against all 15 counties in Arizona, accusing them of failing to remove illegal immigrants from their voter rolls. The conservative legal organization had warned the counties back in July that if they didn’t act, legal action would follow. Now, with no action taken, AFL is following through on its threat.
“We are taking emergency action to secure our elections,” AFL President Stephen Miller stated. “In addition to Maricopa, we are now suing 14 additional counties in Arizona for refusing to remove illegal aliens and non-citizens from their voter rolls.” Miller emphasized that the lawsuits are aimed at stopping what he described as “mass illegal alien voting” and preventing “foreign interference in our democracy.”
AFL initially filed a lawsuit against Maricopa County on behalf of the Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona and Yvonne Cahill, a concerned Arizona voter. However, that case has now expanded to include every county in the state, making this a sweeping legal action against Arizona’s election management.
Violation of state law: AFL argues that every Arizona county is violating its legal duty to keep voter rolls clean by failing to expunge illegal voters, which they say undermines election integrity.
Federal court maneuvering: Maricopa County attempted to move the initial case to federal court, arguing that the issue involves federal laws. However, AFL says this tactic has backfired, allowing them to expand the lawsuit statewide.
Growing national trend: Arizona isn’t the only state facing challenges on this issue. Texas and Virginia have already taken steps to remove illegal immigrants from voter rolls, amid increasing concerns about the political consequences of mass illegal immigration.
The lawsuit also follows heightened public concern about illegal immigration being used to influence political power in the United States. Elon Musk recently voiced his opinion, accusing the Democratic Party of using illegal immigration to boost its political influence, including through Congressional district apportionment.
America First Legal’s lawsuit could have a profound impact on the 2024 election cycle, especially in a battleground state like Arizona where election integrity is a top concern for many voters.
