Apple Commits $500 Million to Trump-Backed U.S. Rare Earth Project
In major win for America First policy, Apple and MP Materials break China’s grip on critical minerals.

In a huge win for President Donald Trump’s America First energy and manufacturing agenda, Apple is investing $500 million into MP Materials, the only rare earth mining company currently operating in the United States.
The move is a massive endorsement of Trump’s push to rebuild domestic supply chains and break the country’s dangerous dependency on China, which currently controls 60% of global rare earth production and up to 90% of all rare earth processing.
Here’s what Apple’s investment includes:
A new rare earth magnet production facility in Fort Worth, Texas, where parts for Apple devices will be manufactured.
A recycling center in Mountain Pass, California, that will reprocess used materials from electronics for future Apple products.
A long-term agreement to purchase American-made rare earth magnets from MP Materials.
“This is a huge win for the president, who has the foresight to make this issue a priority,” a senior White House official told Fox News Digital. “Apple deserves a lot of credit for stepping up.”
The timing is no accident. Just days ago, the Department of Defense announced a separate $400 million stake in MP Materials, calling it a “transformational public-private partnership” to end reliance on hostile foreign regimes and secure the nation’s critical mineral supply chain.
This public-private alignment comes on the heels of President Trump’s March executive order to supercharge American mineral production. The president called it “imperative” for U.S. national security and economic independence.
Let’s be honest: the Biden years did nothing to reduce our dependence on China. In fact, Democrats chased Green New Deal fantasies by outsourcing essential resources to foreign polluters and authoritarian regimes. Now, thanks to Trump, that’s changing.
The rare earth elements mined and processed by MP Materials are essential to military systems, smartphones, electric vehicles, and wind turbines. With this deal, Apple and the federal government are ensuring that American workers and American industry are leading the way not the Chinese Communist Party.
“Other companies should take notice,” the White House official added.
This deal proves what conservatives have been saying for years: national security starts with economic sovereignty. Real leadership means cutting the red tape, building at home, and putting American jobs not globalist interests first.
