Afghan National Arrested for ISIS Election Day Attack After Entering U.S. Under Biden-Harris
Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, brought to the U.S. under Biden-Harris policy, faces terrorism charges for planning an attack targeting large gatherings.
An Afghan man, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, who entered the United States under the Biden-Harris administration’s special immigrant visa program, has been arrested and charged with planning an ISIS-inspired terrorist attack targeting Election Day. Court documents reveal that Tawhedi, along with his juvenile co-conspirator, had begun preparations to fund the attack by selling their home and personal property just weeks before they were apprehended.
Tawhedi, 27, faces multiple charges, including providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, and attempting to acquire firearms to commit terrorism. His juvenile accomplice, CC 1, is his brother-in-law, also from Afghanistan, who entered the U.S. in 2018.
Prosecutors detailed the extensive ISIS propaganda discovered in Tawhedi’s possession, which encouraged terrorist attacks on American soil. The FBI began tracking Tawhedi after he donated to what was later identified as an ISIS front group in March 2024.
Key details from the case:
The suspects were selling their home to fund the attack and repatriate their family to Afghanistan.
The FBI, using a confidential informant, tracked the purchase of two AK-47 rifles and 500 rounds of ammunition by Tawhedi.
Tawhedi admitted to planning a terrorist attack on Election Day, targeting large gatherings of people and expected to die as a martyr in the process.
Authorities arrested Tawhedi and his co-conspirator after they took delivery of the weapons. In post-arrest interviews, Tawhedi reportedly confirmed the plot, expressing his intent to carry out the attack under ISIS orders.
This case marks a disturbing development, with a terrorist plot emerging from individuals brought into the U.S. under a refugee program following the Biden administration’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.
