Afghan Migrant Pleads Not Guilty in Murder of National Guard Soldier

The suspect entered the U.S. under Biden’s Afghan refugee program and screamed “Allahu akbar” during the deadly DC shooting.

In a tragic and infuriating development, an Afghan migrant who entered the U.S. under President Biden’s disastrous “Operation Allies Welcome” has pleaded not guilty after allegedly gunning down two National Guard soldiers in the heart of Washington, D.C. killing one and seriously injuring the other.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, is facing charges of murder, assault with intent to kill while armed, and multiple firearms offenses after opening fire on 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe, just hours after they were sworn in as members of the West Virginia National Guard.

In a stunning courtroom revelation, it was confirmed that Lakanwal shouted “Allahu akbar!” during the attack. Witnesses say he was attempting to reload before being restrained, preventing what could have been even more bloodshed.

Beckstrom, remembered for volunteering to serve over Thanksgiving so others could be with their families, died the day after the attack. Wolfe, who remains hospitalized, is reportedly showing signs of movement and awareness a development hailed by doctors as unexpected and miraculous.

Let’s not forget the facts:

  • Lakanwal entered the U.S. in 2021 through Biden’s chaotic Afghan resettlement program following the botched withdrawal from Kabul.

  • He was granted asylum just this past April, despite alleged ties to U.S. government entities including the CIA raising serious questions about vetting.

  • Over 77,000 Afghan nationals were brought into the country under “Operation Allies Welcome,” with minimal screening, as confirmed by the Department of Homeland Security.

President Trump, during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, revealed he personally spoke with Wolfe’s parents. “I spoke to his mother,” Trump said. “‘Sir, he’s going to be okay. I’m telling you.’ No doctor thought that. Nobody thought that. He was hit bad places.” The former president called the accused “scum” and criticized the administration for allowing such a threat into the country.

This tragedy was avoidable and entirely predictable. Americans were warned that rushing tens of thousands of Afghans into the U.S. without proper vetting would lead to catastrophe. Now a young soldier is dead, another clings to life, and our streets are being patrolled not just for criminals but for terrorists imported through Biden’s open-door refugee policies.

The Trump administration has already taken action by halting asylum decisions for Afghan nationals and freezing new visa issuances a necessary step toward restoring national security and protecting American lives.

Every American should be asking. How many more innocent people have to die before we shut the door on these reckless policies? There is blood on the hands of those who prioritize globalist virtue-signaling over the safety of our men and women in uniform.
