ABC Moderators Slammed for Extreme Bias During Trump-Harris Debate

David Muir and Linsey Davis under fire for blatant favoritism toward Kamala Harris while attacking Trump.

ABC News is facing heavy backlash for what many have described as blatant bias during Tuesday night’s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. The moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, came under fire for their clear favoritism, with viewers and commentators from both sides of the aisle criticizing the way the debate was handled.

From the moment the debate began, it was apparent that Trump wasn’t going to get a fair shake. The moderators peppered him with follow-up questions, fact-checks, and interruptions while giving Harris free rein to dodge tough questions and spin her narrative without pushback.

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer summed it up perfectly: “ABC is making a huge mistake trying to fact-check this live. They’re only proving how biased they are.” Fleischer called out how ABC moderators let Harris skate by when she fabricated an attack on Trump, falsely claiming he had ties to the KKK and other baseless smears.

Even left-wing journalist Glenn Greenwald blasted the network, saying, “David Muir is criticizing and attacking Trump more than Kamala is. Kamala can relax because the ABC ‘moderators’ are handling the debate for her.”

The fact that Davis had previously attempted to link Trump to white supremacy last month should have been a clear sign of how this debate would be handled. Muir, on the other hand, has a track record of giving Harris glowing coverage—100% positive—and covering Trump with 93% negative reports, according to a media analysis.

Here’s what made this debate a complete disaster for ABC:

  • Blatant favoritism: Muir and Davis constantly interrupted and fact-checked Trump while allowing Harris to lie without challenge, particularly on key issues like her support for defunding the police.

  • Harris' lies on police funding: Trump highlighted Harris’ push to redirect police funds, which she falsely denied. Even ABC previously reported on her 2020 comments supporting the redirection of police resources. The post Trump referenced, where Harris raised money to bail out rioters during the 2020 unrest, is still live on social media.

  • Social media outrage: Commentators and viewers exploded online, calling out ABC’s moderators for their overt bias. Ben Shapiro was particularly critical, listing a series of lies from Harris that went unchecked: “Fine people on both sides’ lie. ‘Stand back and stand by’ lie. ‘Bloodbath’ lie. Where are the ABC moderators fact-checking? Or are their heads too far up Kamala Harris’ a to speak at this point?”**

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld didn’t hold back either, bluntly stating, “ABC is a s* show.”** The consensus was clear: the debate was no longer a contest between Trump and Harris but rather a battle between Trump and two biased moderators.

Even Megyn Kelly asked the obvious question: “Why did the moderators need Kamala Harris there at all?” With the moderators doing most of the heavy lifting, Harris barely had to engage.

Syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt echoed the sentiment, arguing that while the moderators were doing everything they could to help Harris, Trump still managed to drive home key points about border security and the failures of the Biden-Harris administration. Hewitt added, “Neither of them won, but ABC/Disney lost half the country.”

The aftermath of the debate only reinforced the growing frustration with mainstream media bias. ABC’s moderators have been widely condemned for turning what should have been a fair and balanced debate into a one-sided affair, further eroding the public’s trust in supposedly neutral news outlets.
