Abbott Signs New Texas Map to Help Flip Five House Seats Red
With Trump’s backing, Texas leads the charge in Republican redistricting to secure the House majority in 2026.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially signed into law a bold new congressional map aimed at reshaping the political battlefield ahead of the 2026 midterm elections and delivering a decisive blow to House Democrats.
The move, backed by President Donald Trump, is expected to flip five U.S. House seats currently held by Democrats, helping the GOP secure its slim majority and strengthen America First priorities in Washington.
“Texas is now more red in the United States Congress,” Abbott declared in a video post after signing the bill.
The redistricting plan passed through the Republican-controlled legislature last week following fierce opposition from Democrats, who staged a walkout in a failed attempt to delay the inevitable. Over 50 Democratic state House members fled the Capitol to deny Republicans the quorum needed to vote but Texas conservatives held the line and ultimately passed the bill without needing voter approval.
Here’s what this means:
Five Democratic-held districts are now in serious jeopardy, all located in areas where Republican momentum and voter dissatisfaction with Biden policies are on the rise.
Republicans redrew the map based on voting history, not racial demographics a fact Democrats are contesting in court, despite lacking evidence of racial discrimination.
The law solidifies Texas as a stronghold for conservative values and sets a powerful precedent for other GOP-led states eyeing similar reforms.
Meanwhile, blue states like California are doing the exact opposite pushing redistricting plans to boost Democrat control, with their legislature advancing a map designed to net five additional seats for the Left. Unlike Texas, however, California’s gerrymandering scheme will require voter approval this November.
The usual suspects in the media and Democrat party are crying foul, accusing Texas Republicans of “voter suppression” and “racial gerrymandering,” despite the fact that every party in power Democrat or Republican has always drawn maps to win elections. That’s how the system works.
“We based the maps on voter behavior and recent election results,” said one Texas GOP lawmaker. “Race had nothing to do with it.”
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released this week showed most Americans dislike partisan redistricting but in reality, Democrats are only outraged when Republicans do it better.
And this time, Texas is doing it right.
While Biden’s DOJ gears up for another politically motivated lawsuit, and California Democrats prepare to rig their own map in broad daylight, Texas is taking action using its constitutional authority to ensure its citizens are represented by lawmakers who will stand for secure borders, low taxes, school choice, and law and order.
This is exactly what leadership looks like in an America First era.
