Hunter Biden’s Unsettling Messages: Leveraging the Biden Brand for $10M

Published:

The House Oversight Committee has brought to light a disturbing message from Hunter Biden, asserting his family’s ability to meet the expectations of a Chinese Communist Party-affiliated chairman of a Chinese energy company.

Dated August 3, 2017, Hunter Biden’s WhatsApp message to Gongwen Dong, an official of China’s CEFC energy company, raised several concerns. In his message, Hunter Biden expressed discontent over a potential reduction in compensation, stating, “10 M per annum budget to use to further the interest of the JV…This move to 5M is completely new to me and is not acceptable obviously…”

Hunter Biden continued, “The Bidens are the best I know at doing exactly what the Chairman wants from this partnership. Please let’s not quibble over peanuts.” Such a statement potentially implies that the Biden family was willing to use their influence to further business interests.

In the days following this message, Owasco, a company associated with Hunter Biden, reportedly received $100,000 from a CEFC subsidiary.

Additionally, whistleblower Gary Shapley provided a transcript of a communication dated July 30, 2017, in which Hunter Biden wrote to Henry Zhao, outlining his demands and suggesting serious consequences for non-compliance.

The transcript quoted Hunter Biden as writing, “I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight…”

A 2020 Senate report provided some insight into what followed. On August 8, 2017, a $5 million transfer was made to Hudson West III, which began making regular payments to Owasco, Hunter Biden’s firm, totaling $4,790,375.25 over a little more than a year.

It is important to note that Hunter Biden had earlier penned a note to Ye Jianming, the chairman of CEFC, regarding his desire for $10 million, stating, “I am sure you have been well briefed by our dear friend Director Zang on the political and economic connections we have established in countries where you are interested in expanding during the coming months and years.”

These revelations, along with the Biden family’s potential involvement in international business dealings, cast a long shadow over the integrity and impartiality of the Biden name. While it is crucial to note that Hunter Biden’s actions do not reflect the entire Biden family, transparency and accountability remain pivotal. Upholding conservative values, we champion personal responsibility, integrity, and a commitment to public service above self-interest. As the details of this case continue to unravel, it is crucial that we stay informed and demand accountability where it is due.
