Newly disclosed whistleblower testimony suggests a significant twist in the ongoing saga around Hunter Biden’s financial investigations. There appears to be a roadblock when it comes to probing potential ties between Hunter Biden and his father, now-President Joe Biden.
Recently, Rep. Jason Smith of Missouri, the GOP leader of the House Ways and Means Committee, put forth a worrying claim. According to Smith, “Whistleblowers are suggesting that the Biden-led Department of Justice might be overstepping its bounds, particularly in the investigation surrounding the president’s son.”
He continued, saying, “Our IRS investigators feel stymied internally.” What was originally labeled a “campaign of delay, divulge, and deny” is now under renewed scrutiny, with all whistleblower testimony becoming accessible on the committee’s website.
A key player in the unfolding drama is Gary Shapley Jr., a whistleblower whose evidence is deemed particularly significant. Shapley maintains that certain connections, which could shine a new light on the investigation, were never fully explored.
Shapley shared with the committee that “in August 2020, we discovered key messages through an iCloud search warrant. Unfortunately, our requests to develop a strategy for following up on these messages were dismissed by prosecutors.”
Of these messages, one particular exchange stood out: a message dated July 30th, 2017, from Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao, in which Hunter stated that he was with his father. In this text, Hunter demanded a resolution on a commitment he felt hadn’t been fulfilled.
Such communications prompted a need to investigate the Bidens’ Delaware residence’s guest house, where Hunter resided for a time. Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Wolf acknowledged there was probable cause for a physical search warrant, but concerns about “optics” led to the approval for this warrant being denied.
The investigators were keen on questioning Rob Walker, an associate of Hunter Biden, about a cryptic email stating: “Ten held by H for the big guy.” Unfortunately, the chance to delve deeper into the possible link between Hunter Biden and his father was halted, with AUSA Wolf steering clear of inquiries related to ‘dad.’
Despite these setbacks, Walker did reveal a significant instance in which Joe Biden interacted with Hunter and his business partners. He confirmed an orchestrated encounter where Joe Biden made an appearance at a lunch meeting at the Four Seasons, seemingly to boost the chances of a potential business deal. Walker also admitted to instances where Hunter had organized meetings with his father during his time in office.
The ongoing probe into the affairs of Hunter Biden raises significant questions about the extent of Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business ventures. It’s a tangled web, indeed, and one can’t help but wonder about the need for a transparent and unfettered investigation into the matter.
