Chrissy Teigen’s Entourage Stirs Controversy at WH Correspondents’ Dinner

Published:

Chrissy Teigen, the model-turned-activist known for her outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, recently found herself at the center of controversy following her appearance at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. A video of Teigen and her husband, musician John Legend, arriving at the event captured attention not for their glamorous outfits, but for the three women accompanying them, tasked with holding up the train of Teigen’s dress.

Collin Rugg, co-owner of the Trending Politics news site, posted the video on Twitter, commenting, “Far-left model Chrissy Teigen walking to the White House correspondents dinner with her servants trailing behind her to hold her dress. This is what peak liberalism looks like.” Many others chimed in to criticize Teigen for what they perceived as a display of elitism and hypocrisy.

Teigen, who has been an advocate for social justice and has often spoken out against inequality, faced backlash for subjecting these women to a task typically reserved for a maid of honor during a wedding. Critics argue that this display of privilege contradicts the values she claims to support.

This incident is not the first time Teigen’s character has been called into question. In 2020, she pledged to boycott Goya Foods after its CEO praised then-President Trump, only to be later spotted with Goya products in her pantry. Additionally, Teigen has previously attacked former first lady Melania Trump and President Trump with derogatory remarks, further fueling the perception of her as a divisive figure.

While some may argue that the full context behind the woman holding Teigen’s dress is unknown and that she deserves the benefit of the doubt, others find it difficult to extend grace to someone with a history of harsh and vindictive behavior. In any case, this latest controversy surrounding Teigen highlights the importance of consistency between one’s actions and beliefs, especially when advocating for social change.
