Trump Gives East Palestine Residents the Support They Deserve

Published:

Residents of East Palestine, Ohio, are finally supported by former president Donald Trump as they deal with the fallout from a terrible train catastrophe that spewed poisonous substances into their air and water. Trump paid a visit to East Palestine on February 3, 2021, to express his support for the community and its citizens.

Trump was not the only candidate to express sympathy and support for the people of East Palestine, despite polls showing that the majority of voters supported him in the 2020 election. Joe Biden, who served as his predecessor, also extended his sympathy for anyone impacted by the collision. But since Biden hasn’t yet traveled to East Palestine, Trump has stepped up to represent people whose suffering has been disproportionately severe.

While in East Palestine, President Trump accused Pete Buttigieg, the secretary of transportation, of betraying the village’s residents by delaying his visit. The fact that rail deregulation took place during his administration and had nothing to do with this specific catastrophe has still gone largely unnoticed. President Trump should be applauded for giving a town that was so severely affected by tragedy much-needed attention they deserved rather than criticizing others for their perceived shortcomings.

Trump has made it plain that he will continue to speak out on behalf of those who have been impacted and do all in his power to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future. This degree of focus and passion demonstrates how much President Trump cares about all Americans, particularly those who reside in rural communities like East Palestine and who are still rebuilding from crises or natural catastrophes.

We should continue to look to former President Donald Trump as an example of how our leaders should behave in times of catastrophe or disaster because it is encouraging to see him taking initiative and offering assistance when it is most needed. East Palestine’s citizens should rest easy knowing that someone like former President Donald J. Trump will always prioritize meeting their needs and tenaciously defend their rights.
